a pinch and a pinch and it's 'ober'

Karlie and I have been talking to Jolie about getting some earrings. She had been saying yes she wanted some earrings. And for weeks, I've been saying we would have to go get them pierced so the earrings would stay in. I would put my fingers on her little earlobe and say it's a pinch and a pinch and it's over. She would see other little girls' with their ears pierced with cute little earrings and I think she was ready. So I told her on Saturday we would go.  After breakfast  on Saturday, I told dad that we wanted to go and get Jolie's ears pierced. He raised his eyebrows and said to Jolie are you sure you want to go do that in which she replied in a COMPLETE sentence no less, Uh huh...it's a pinch and a pinch and it's ober, and she said that twice and threw up her hands as if to say no big deal. Dad said I don't think I want to go watch that. I reminded him that sometimes, she wants him when I'm brushing the tangles out of her hair, and that he might need to come just to help me. In case the pinch and the pinch was more than she was expecting. He asked her, Jolie do you want me to go with you to get your ears pierced? She said yes!  Actually, the whole family went, all 6 of is. Some of the sibs got a little squeamish about seeing it, and they decided to look at the stuff in the store.

Getting ready to go...excited that Daddy is going too.
Sitting in the earring chair...I have a sucker ready. I read about the lollipop trick from hoot's momma. As soon as we sat her in the chair, the waterworks turned on. I had to give her the lollipop earlier than I anticipated.
She got to pick her earrings. Back in the 1900's when I had mine pierced, it was gold little studs no other choice. She picked the Hello Kitty earrings. Aren't they precious?
There's the waterworks, just after picking the earrings...I am trying to assure her that all will be fine.
Daddy holds her hand.
Daddy holds her hand, and her blanket, mine, is not too far away either.
The Manager came to put the dots on Jolie's ears. She said she was very particular about getting them straight and she actually wiped them off twice and did it again to get it just right. Notice, Jolie is already having a lollipop and we have not even got to the piercing yet.
That eye on the poster is rather eerie.
Waa Laa...the dots are even.
 ready set go...
One big pinch and
 it's ober
 She liked her sticker...
 cute little hello kitty earrings...

All happy now...
Then we went to grab a bite to eat.
My gorgeous Karlie poses at the lunch table.
two bros..

WE had a fun family Saturday. Ear piercing, lunch grabbing, just hanging out as a family...it was a good day.

Sunday Snapshot~boys night out

The boys in the house went to a HAWKS game on Thursday night. Karl always gets voucher/tickets at work, but in years past he has always traded his hawks tickets with another co worker in exchange for thrashers tickets. BUT since the Thrashers have been sent to Canada, he went ahead and kept his Hawks tickets. This fact delighted Shek, who has always wanted to see the hawks play so they went. We girls opted out...we decided to have a carbs night out and enjoyed pizza.

Shek took my camera and snagged many good shots. Here's a few from their basketball evening. The guys were disappointed that the Hawks lost the game, but they had a great time anyway.

 Atlanta Hawks
 Love the mascot!
Shek in the stands. He is wearing his Hawks cap and shirt. In fact he woke up that morning and came down ready to go in his hawks attire, but first he had a day of school to do first!
He shoots....
I think the guys had a great time at their boys night out..I know we girls did at our carbs night out!
Tune in on Monday's Post for Jolie's earrings...

Check out my friend's blog. She and her family are currently in China adopting two girls!

Our life as the Disney Princesses continues...

Jolie has a thing about the Disney Princesses, as you may remember from this post. Yesterday, at the end of speech, it was sticker time. Jolie was delighted when Ms. Jennifer announced that she had new stickers...And the new stickers are none other than Disney Princesses. So Jolie picked two stickers and she slapped one on my sweater as we left, pointing to it and telling me that the picture was me. YEP, she is still saying that Cinderella is her momma.

Here's my sticker.
I placed it on my steering wheel.
It will be my daily reminder that
my baby girl thinks
her momma is
a beautiful princess....and she thinks I am Cinderella...my favorite.
After all, like I have said before, I am a child of the KING...and you know what else, my hubby is
 Prince Charming too.

Last night, on the way to a meeting, Prince Charming, I mean, Karl started to take my beautiful sticker off the steering wheel of my carriage, in which I said No, you can't take it off. And then I told him the whole story. AND my sticker is still on the wheel.

On another note...still about Disney Princesses, the kids and I had an adventure at the bookstore earlier this week. We had gone to the store to get Honey a Kindle Fire. I was hoping to get it at the bookstore so I could use my discount card, and save her a few bucks, but the bookstore only had nooks, and she did not want a nook. Before we went to the next store the kids wanted to look around at the books, probably just wanted to kill a little more time before coming home to finish up their school work, but I let them look for a few minutes anyway.  Jolie spotted the Valentines book display and the Disney princess sticker book caught her eye. It's amazing how those stores put everything on the eye level of my two year old. Marketing I guess.

Well, anyway, while we were oohing and ahhing over the sticker book and elderly Asian man appeared...looked right at Jolie and threw his arms open and said, "I've finally found you!" She just looked at him nonchalantly and said "Hey"...and never gave him another thought or look...then I looked at him-- I am sure with a quizzical look...I'm known for speaking with my eyes, and facial expressions before I ever say a word!" And I might have gave him a "what for" look. Then he looks at me and says "hmmmmmm?" and he walks on, without another word or explanation.

I was a little freaked....because he was Asian, she was Asian...and I didn't want anyone to think my daughter was his granddaughter or something and that I was the one who didn't belong. The entire exchange was  just BIZARRE, to say the least. So Jolie and I quickly, found Karlie and Shek and left the store. I didn't let Jolie out of my sight, I don't ever let her out of my sight, but I was even extra hawk-eyed!  Later, I thought, maybe, he was quoting some book or poem that I was not familiar with, but I don't think so! Just another adventure, maybe, he knew, I needed something to blog about! LOL

Stay tuned...the give-a-way winner will be announced later...the princess who draws the name out of the bucket is fast asleep. ...I guess she is sleeping beauty today.
