A day at the Collection

It was time for another fashion show at the collection. This time it was a back to school theme. Lots of entertainment, and activities were happening on Saturday.

We arrived at noon for the fashion show run through. Karlie retrieved her items that she was to model, we grabbed lunch, ran into another adoption mom at the cross walk. It was a very busy fun day. Here's some photos of the day. Karlie had a great time modeling with her pure fashion friends.
Modeling for Peach mac..
I did not know the apple store had so many accessories.

Ten thousand villages...

Jolie loved getting her face painted.
She decided on an owl when the girl ahead of her got one.

Modeling for the Universities...Karlie wore Georgia Tech, but she was thinking War Eagle the whole time.

It was a fun day for the whole family at a very cool shopping center.

The happy place

The lake really is our happy place. Usually by this time of the summer we have been to the lake numerous times. BUT this year, there's been a lot of rain. Like Rain Rain Rain and more Rain. And we also had some boat battery issues as well.

In fact, last Saturday, the kids had found their swimming suits and packed snacks and waters in the cooler, grabbed a change of clothes and even Jolie was running around the yard in her life jacket. She was past ready to go. The frowny face in the left side of the photo was taken when she thought we weren't going to get to go. But Dad just went and bought a new battery. The second photo shows her in the lake hanging on to daddy. The lake cures what ails ya.

Shek likes to ride up front  with me. He especially likes it when a wave hits just right and splashes me in the face. I think Dad does that on purpose...
Karlie says when are we going back. Summer has gone by to fast.

The lake is our family's happy place....

Prettier than a plastic Barbie Doll

Today, while shopping at our favorite place, Marshals, Jolie found a dress. It was blue, and not just any blue, but Cinderella blue complete with sparkles, leggins, and ruffles. AND just for me it was on clearance to the tune of 7 bucks. So in the buggy this little outfit went. Jolie came home and tried it on...and then asked the question that she has asks me on numerous occasions. " Am I as pretty as a plastic Barbie doll?" She is brought this question up many times. The first time she asked this I was shocked, I could not figure out where she had wrapped her worth or beauty around a Barbie Doll, a plastic one at that. I always answer, You're much prettier than a plastic Barbie doll.

I have tried to teach my girls that they are fearfully and wonderfully made and that "GOD don't make no Junk!", and that they are His treasured possession, but as girls go, I know sometimes it's hard to believe all the positive things when the world tells you otherwise.  Karlie listens to comments from others over and over again, that she's short and tiny and that she must be younger than she really is. Even their own mom has a hard time with the fearfully and wonderfully made part, especially after a day of shopping and trying on clothes. Dressing rooms are always an un-fun thing for me. Why can't there be a what not to wear crew standing in the dressing room telling me what I ought to try on? It would save a lot of trouble, but I digress.

Anyway, I am just gonna believe it. We are all prettier than a Plastic Barbie Doll. We are fearfully and wonderfully made by the almighty...and you know what, He really "DON't Make NO junk"...

Psalm 139:14

 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
    your works are wonderful,
    I know that full well.

a pool in my yard

Last week, Jolie went swimming in a hotel pool for just a little while. When Dad told her it was time to get out, because we needed to head home...she cried and cried. She said, "Mom, I wasn't done yet."

She begged on the way home that she wanted a pool in her yard. Dad said, "One day we will." As we drove down the road, she said, "No, I want one now, can't we get one from Dollar General?"
We then realized that she was asking for a wading pool, like the one she had noticed at Dollar General. We said, now that we can do. On Friday, in a rain storm,  Dad hopped out at Walmart to get her one while we waited in the car. He said, pink or blue. She said, Blue. He was glad he asked because he was about to get the pink one. I figured she would request blue, because Cinderella's signature color is blue.
It's not raining...can I get in my pool?
She was very happy with her wading pool.
She soaked up the few minutes of sunshine that we had on Saturday...and even walked away with a tan line. Her momma always walks away PINK and freckled. Although, Jolie has one freckle on her leg that she is most proud of, and shows her one freckle to everyone and says, "I have a freckle just like mom!" She has one, I have a zillion.
I am so happy she's happy splashing in her pool.
 Bring on the sun...
and let's catch some rays...and maybe a freckle or two.

a Wet 4th of July Week

It was a wet 4th Of July Week...and although the rain changed some of our plans it didn't dampen our spirits. When it wasn't pouring rain, the guys played some baseball and football in the yard.

They look like they are hunting for easter eggs here, but the ball went into the tall grass, and they are on the search.
 Play ball

Karl searches for the ball too...
Playing ball in the wet grass barefooted...it's fun.
 Shek pitches
We girls watch, play with the cat and take photos.
 Jolie photo bombs...
More ball hitting action.
On the evening of the 4th, the rain eased up a little for a nice day at the ball park. The guys enjoyed a Braves game.
Some days, when it's raining so very much....just go to the movies. Your choice of movies might be sold out and force you to go to the 3D version of it. My crew saw the 3d Version of Monsters University.
A 4th of July weekend is not complete without some bbq at least once or twice.  Zach was home with one of his roommates, Eric. We wanted tovisit a fun bbq place in the area so we drove up to Fox Bros. BBQ. We even sat on the patio for a while till it started raining more than a mist. The waiters  and waitresses ushered us in and found us a table inside.
That was the end of the 4th weekend...a little damp but still fun.
